Dento-Skeletal Abnormalities in School-aged Children in Iran: A Cross-Sectional Study

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate skeleto-dental abnormalities in 9-11-year-old school children, Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: In population-based cross-sectional descriptive study, a random cluster sampling done among 19 districts. A total 1,429 socioeconomically ethnically diverse Iranian schoolchildren, aged 9-11 years were studied. brief questionnaire including background information such as gender age completed by the parents. Clinical examinations included evaluation sagittal vertical skeletal relationship, Facial form (facial index), presence significant asymmetry. Results: There 758 males 671 females with mean 10 years±8 months. According most prevalent type convex (63%) that presenting Cl II jaw relation; followed straight (32.9%); then concave (4.1%). 73.9% children had an average facial 18.4 % long face pattern; 7.8% short pattern. Regarding frontal view, common (79.3%); narrow (14%); broad (6.7%). prevalence asymmetry 15.2%. Conclusion: dento-skeletal high. majority years, at least one abnormality, even though it is commonly preventable.
